At age 15, he enrolled in MIT. By 21, he was running of the largest companies in North America. Anthony "Tony" Stark has always been ahead of the pack, the curve, and his time.
When Howard and Maria Stark were killed in a car accident, Tony found himself at the head of their multibillion-dollar company. After learning that his parents had died owing to a construction fault in their automobile, Tony's first action act as head of Stark Industries was to purchase the car company responsible and overhould their entire approach to brake design. To this day, Tony is still unaware that the "accident" was actually engineered by a group of industry competitors who would later found the corrupt organization Roxxon Oil.
After a year or two spent grappling with the compexities of running a massive business such as Stark industries, Tony grew into the man his father had always wanted to him to be. Working tirelessly to expand the company into a multi-national corporation, Tony's drive to succeed only increased following his injury in an explosion in Afghanistan and the commencement of his double life as the armored avenger Iron Man. Witnessing the terrible destructive power of his weapons firsthand, and realizing that the tide of public opinion was turning against those seen as war profiteers, Tony altered Stark Industries' focus from weapons manufacturing to a variety of other technological innovations, establishing his father's company as a true leader of the industrial world.
